A bit about me.........

My interest in counselling began in my mid-twenties when I embarked on my first counselling course. What started as a curiosity about people, relationships and emotional wellbeing has continued to grow throughout my life and career.

I've always been curious about people and their stories. I believe that no two women experience life in the same way, and that meaningful therapy begins with understanding the whole person, not just the problem. I feel privileged to walk alongside women as they make sense of their experiences, reconnect with themselves and move towards a life that feels more authentic and meaningful.

Authenticity is important to me. I don't believe any of us have life completely figured out. We're all continually learning, adapting and growing, and I believe therapy offers the opportunity to pause, reflect and better understand ourselves with curiosity and compassion.

I've also come to believe that while life's more difficult chapters can be incredibly painful, they can sometimes create opportunities for deeper self-understanding and growth. We naturally hold on to what's familiar because it feels safe, yet there are times when life gently nudges us or unexpectedly pushes us, in a different direction. Therapy can provide the space to make sense of those experiences and explore what they might be asking of us, helping you move forward in a way that feels more authentic and connected to who you are.

It is a privilege to be invited into someone's story, and a responsibility I never take for granted. I strive to offer a warm, compassionate and collaborative relationship where you feel heard, accepted and supported.

What I bring to my counselling practice.....

Professional Background

My counselling practice is shaped by over 25 years of professional experience working across mental health, trauma, substance misuse, neurodiversity and women's services, supporting women through a wide range of emotional, psychological and life challenges.

Alongside my therapeutic work, I have held leadership roles involving the development, delivery and operational management of trauma-informed services and therapeutic programmes within multidisciplinary settings. This has included promoting the mental and emotional wellbeing of staff teams. By designing and delivering wellbeing and resilience programmes that increase self-awareness, strengthen coping strategies and support healthier responses to stress and burnout.

These experiences have given me a deep understanding of how trauma, adversity, relationships, life transitions and societal expectations can shape our emotional wellbeing, influencing how we think, feel, cope and relate to ourselves and others.

Holistic Approach

My counselling practice takes an integrative, holistic approach, shaped by my passion for supporting the whole person. While it's easy to think that emotional healing happens solely through the mind, our minds and bodies are in constant conversation.

Every experience, emotion and stressful event we encounter is processed not only by our brain but also by our nervous system and body. As a result, anxiety, overwhelm, grief, trauma and chronic stress affect far more than our thoughts; they can influence how we breathe, sleep, move, connect with others and experience the world around us.

Rather than viewing these experiences simply as symptoms to manage, I see them as valuable signals that offer insight into what may be happening beneath the surface. By exploring the connection between our thoughts, emotions, nervous system, physical wellbeing and lived experiences, we create the opportunity for greater self-awareness, self-compassion and meaningful, lasting change.

Neurodiveristy Support

Across my practice and professional roles, I've had the privilege of supporting neurodivergent adults, young people and parents. I take a neuro-affirming approach, recognising that every client's experiences, strengths and needs are unique.

For many women, years of masking and adapting to a predominantly neurotypical world can take a significant emotional toll, affecting self-esteem, identity and mental wellbeing. I've seen how this can contribute to anxiety, burnout, emotional exhaustion and a sense of losing themselves.

My work has involved helping clients better understand their experiences while exploring practical ways to support everyday life. This includes considering executive functioning, emotional regulation and sensory preferences to find approaches that work with their neurotype rather than against it. The focus is on understanding individual needs, building on strengths and supporting wellbeing in sustainable ways.

Growth is not linear

You may notice the lotus flower woven throughout my website. I chose this symbol because it beautifully reflects the journey that so many people experience through therapy.

The lotus begins its life rooted in the mud, growing slowly through dark, murky water before emerging to bloom. Its beauty isn't found despite the mud, but because it has grown through it.

For me, this is a gentle reminder that growth and healing are rarely linear. Life's challenges can leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected from ourselves. Yet, with time, self-compassion and the right support, those same experiences can become opportunities for greater understanding, resilience and growth.

I don't believe therapy is about becoming someone new or pretending the difficult parts of life haven't happened. It's about making sense of your experiences, reconnecting with yourself and creating the space for what is ready to emerge.

That's why the lotus became the heart of my website, it represents hope, resilience and the belief that even through life's most challenging seasons, growth is possible.

Not forgetting that.........
